Cleaning and protecting

The most important thing to remember is keeping your new tattoo clean and protected. This minimizes the risk of infection and promotes optimal healing. Gently clean the tattooed area with mild, fragrance-free soap and water 2-3 times a day. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and apply a thin layer of aftercare product as recommended by your artist at Realm Of Ink.

First 3 days

The first three days are crucial for initial healing. Follow these steps to ensure your tattoo heals correctly:

  1. Leave the initial bandage on for the time recommended by your Realm Of Ink artist.
  2. Gently wash the tattoo with mild soap and water.
  3. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
  4. Apply a thin layer of recommended aftercare product, such as Aquaphor or Second Skin (available for purchase at Realm Of Ink).
  5. Repeat this process 2-3 times daily.

To much protectant and moisturizing lube

One of the biggest mistakes people make is applying too much protectant and moisturizing lube. This can suffocate the tattoo, trap bacteria, and lead to infection. A thin layer is all that's needed to keep the tattoo moisturized. Avoid using petroleum-based products unless specifically recommended by your artist at Realm Of Ink.
